One of the most interesting trends I noticed with my nutrition coaching clients last year, was how many of them came to me wanting help to not only lose weight or build a healthier lifestyle, BUT also to see if the skin condition they were suffering from could be caused by what they were eating. I worked with clients who were suffering from psoriasis, eczema and thanks to the opportunity I had to work with Missy, keratosis pilaris. She had been dealing with an annoying bumpy rash on her arms for as long as she could remember. Despite seeing numerous dermatologists and doctors, spending tons of money on topical creams, ointments, etc…nothing seemed to help. I started  researching everything I could to see if there were dietary changes she could make that would actually make a difference and lucky for her, there were!

I had her eliminate gluten and dairy from her diet and start taking a daily probiotic as well as a vitamin D supplement and what do you know? Not only did she start to feel so much better and lose weight, the rash on her arms started to clear up as well. For the first time in her life, something had made a difference! I worked to fine tune and refine meal and snack ideas for her, so she never felt like she was deprived or “missing out”. I found tons of delicious, healthy recipes to replace her favorite foods that contained gluten and dairy and created a lifestyle plan she knew she could sustain. To see how optimistic and hopeful she was about looking and feeling better than ever, is seriously one of the best parts of being a wellness coach! Being able to make a real a difference in someone else’s life is truly everything.

Here’s what she had to say about nutrition coaching with BbE!

What was one of your biggest challenges when it came to living a healthy lifestyle? How has Emilee helped you overcome that?

My biggest challenge when it came to living a healthy lifestyle was to control my cravings. I would always get the worst cravings that would cause me to get side tracked from my diet. When I started working with Emilee, we did an elimination diet to see what foods I was allergic to. During the first couple of weeks, I kept craving peanut butter and a lot of sugar. I could see how much Emilee cared about my diet and wanted to help me change my mind set when it came to eating. We talked about my cravings and she educated me on how my diet was affecting my cravings from the start of the day to the end of the day. Emilee switched my breakfast from a sugary breakfast to a savory breakfast so I was not immediately spiking my sugar levels as soon as I woke up. She also told me great snack ideas that tasted amazing and did not even feel like I was cutting certain foods out of my diet. Any time I had a really bad craving for a certain food, Emilee would send me an ample amount of recipes that would immediately satisfy any craving I told her I was having. I have now been working with Emilee for four months and can confidently say that I no longer have bad cravings and feel very satisfied with my new diet lifestyle for the first time in my life.

What are some of the best healthy eating tips you’ve learned from BbE?

The best healthy eating tip that Emilee taught me was how my regular diet was affecting my food choices throughout the day. She taught me how to start my day off with a healthy, sugar free breakfast that immediately changed my mood for the whole day. She helped me see how certain foods were having negative reactions in my body and helped me take those foods out. She also taught me how to find great substitutes for any foods that I was craving or wanted to incorporate in my meals. I really learned to be more creative in my cooking and how easy it is to make a healthier choice. Some of the best recipes I’ve ever made have come from Emilee!

What would you say to other girls contemplating working with BbE?

To anyone struggling with their diet or trying to live a healthier lifestyle, I would highly recommend working with Emilee. Since I can remember, I have struggled with different skin conditions, being bloated, swelling, and other issues that no doctor was ever able to figure out the cause. After going from doctor to doctor and trying every medication in the book, I felt defeated. Once I started working with Emilee, I was shocked on how she was able to tell me the root cause of everything I was struggling with and how we can fix it. Not only is Emilee extremely knowledgeable in what she does, but she has a passion for finding every answer that she does not know. Her dedication and commitment to each of her clients is truly amazing and is seen in all of them. I have a severe case of keratosis pilaris and Emilee did so much research about the condition and found that it was caused from a vitamin deficiency, which no doctor was ever able to tell me. She helped me get on the right eating track so the vitamins I needed were being delivered to my body. I saw results immediately and they have continued to improve the more I follow Emilee’s plan for me. What really impresses me about Emilee is everything she does for her clients is because she truly has a passion for seeing everyone improve and live a better lifestyle.

These moments and pictures don't even come close to capturing the stories, connections + the incredible beauty and energy from the Meditation Workshop I hosted with a group of clients at @archipalegoclub.⁠ 🤍🙏🏽

We explored how to create a meditation practice that WORKS for you! We talked through the whens and wheres, but also really focused on the why and how to build more purpose into a meditation practice.⁠

I think of my daily meditation practice as a powerful tool I use to shift my energy in order to heal, transform, elevate, regulate or show up for my clients, my husband, my son and in my life as the most centered, grounded, present and expanded version of myself! ⁠

I truly believe changing your energy is essential to changing anything. ⁠
Dr. Joe Dispenza said, ⁠
“Nobody changes until they change their energy—and when you change your energy, you change your life.”⁠

If meditation is just something you are checking off your to-do list, is it really having an impact?? I believe if you are spending the time to do it, it should. ⁠

One of the first steps you can take to create a more impactful practice is to define a purpose for your meditation each day. Focusing on the energy or area of your life where you want to shift or change, supports having a more empowered, fulfilling meditation practice. ⁠

I'll share more of what we talked about in future posts, but for now, establish where and when you can meditate and imbue it with a purpose.
