Denver is super dry year round and even worse in the winter. Trying to keep my skin “glowing” while living here has definitely been a struggle. Between working with some amazing aestheticians, learning tips and tricks from skin care savvy girlfriends and a little trial and error on my own, I have figured out how to hydrate on the outside + nourish on the inside to keep my skin glowing despite freezing temps and dry climate. I’ve done the legwork babes and am excited to share some of my favorite skincare products and top nutrition tips so you can get glowing winter skin too! xo
7 ESSENTIALS FOR GLOWING WINTER SKIN
{ ALGENIST ULTIMATE ANTI-AGING MELTING CLEANSER }
With trying to keep my skin hydrated, I found that using the right cleanser is crucial. When I first started experimenting with oil and gel cleansers, I could not believe what a difference it made. My skin immediately felt softer and smoother and looked so much more radiant. This melting cleanser from Algenist is my absolute favorite. It removes all of my makeup without stripping my skin of it’s natural oils and moisture. So love it!
{ MARIO BADESCU FACIAL SPRAY WITH ALOE, HERBS + ROSEWATER }
After I cleanse, I spritz my whole face with this rosewater facial spray. It not only smells amazing and is super hydrating, the herbs and aloe, re-energize, rejuvenate and give your skin a gorgeous glow! What’s nice too, is you can spray it over your makeup to set your look and give your face a dewy finish.
{ MAD HIPPIE SKIN EXFOLIATING SERUM }
Trying to figure out how to exfoliate without drying out my skin has definitely taken a few experiments. What I’m doing and loving right now, is this exfoliating serum from Mad Hippie. If you haven’t tried any of their products yet, you need to! All natural, but still highly effective with tons of active ingredients. I use this serum twice a week and have noticed a difference in fine lines and hyperpigmentation from sun damage. Plus, my skin feels softer and more moisturized since I started using it without any drying effects. Amazing stuff!
{ ACURE COLD PRESSED ORGANIC ROSEHIP OIL }
I’ve been using different oils on my face for years. I know there are still some of you out there that think putting oil on your face is going to make you break out, but babes, I promise, once you start using facial oils, you will be obsessed. I can not tell you how much I love the way they make my skin look and feel. Rosehip oil is absolutely one of my skincare essentials for both day and night. I put a few drops in my hand and apply after the rosewater spray and before anything else. It absorbs into my skin quickly and leaves it so smooth and bright. If you have been wanting to try facial oil or have been a little wary, give rosehip oil. You will love it!
{ NEOCELL SUPER COLLAGEN }
One of the most essential things I’ve figured out is the connection between beautiful skin and your nutrition. I stumbled across this product from Neocell years ago and started mixing it in my Anti Aging Beauty Drink each morning. Collagen depletion leads to the common signs of aging in our hair, skin, nails, bones and muscles. Supplementing your body with collagen helps reduce wrinkles and increases elasticity and moisture.
{ WARM LEMON WATER }
Warm water with lemon is also a part of my daily nutrition. I love waking up and hydrating with this simple combo. The vitamin C and anti oxidants from the lemon can help repair your skin and get rid of fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes. It’s a detoxing food and getting rid of toxins definitely helps your skin glow! I also think hydrating your body first thing in the morning is one of the best things you can do to replenish your skin and get the day started in a healthy way.
{ AVOCADOS + OTHER HEALTHY FATS }
I feel like avocados have almost become a nutrition movement and just like the rest of you, I’m in love. On average, I eat an avocado a day. Sometimes I’ll add half an avocado to my breakfast, put the other half on my salad at lunch or alongside grilled salmon for dinner. One of my favorite snacks is smashed avocado with veggies…so yum! DO not fear the fat babes. Since I have started adding more fat to my diet, I have not only felt amazing and leaned out, my skin has benefited as well. I’ll add olive oil to my breakfasts, and salads and use it for cooking dinner. Along with avocados and olive oil, I’ll toss in walnuts, olives and flaxseed to make sure I am eating lots of healthy fats with every meal. From reducing inflammation to providing moisture, vitamins and anti-oxidants, including healthy fats in your nutrition is so important for healthy, glowing skin.
